Bronze, a brand new restaurant on H Road NE, is combining Afrofuturism with meals.

Its use of fireside — charred, torched and grilled dishes abound — and mixture of worldly spices draw from the founder’s fantasy of globetrotter Alonzo Bronze deciding on a Caribbean island 700 years in the past. (Whoa, proper?)

  • We will see why Bronze has been described as some of the fascinating eating places to open shortly.

What’s cooking: The menu options small plates and bigger entrees divided into backyard, land and sea.

  • We took notice of the distinctive takes on seafood dishes, together with charred yuzu squid on skewers and a giant plate of prawns over pink mustard greens. A half dozen oysters come torched — though ours had been barely so — with flying fish roe.

In case you really feel like sticking to the comforts of land, we advocate the braised oxtail with pappardelle pasta and the couscous with grilled aubergine and broccolini.
