The north-western nook of Spain is a foody gem that the Spanish know effectively, however we Brits miss out on in our rush to the southern solar.

Properly now we will expertise the tastes of Galicia at La Gamba which can open on the Southbank Centre in February

Dropped at us by the brothers behind the eponymous Applebee’s Fish, their latest is a riverside tapas restaurant overlooking views of the Thames at London’s Southbank Centre.

Located on the Queen’s Stroll on the entrance of the Royal Competition Corridor, La Gamba will serve trendy takes on conventional Spanish dishes, accompanied by an inventory of curated cocktails and a wine listing which can take visitors on a journey from the Douro River to the hills of Rioja.

Whereas La Gamba will take inspiration from conventional Spanish recipes from all around the nation, the menu will largely showcase dishes and cooking methods from the north-western Galician area of Spain. With round 1,500km of shoreline, seafood dishes will shine by the menu, in addition to hearty plates, world-renowned cheeses, and delicate almond-based sweets, that the area is known for.

La Gamba’s workforce of mixologists will carry their very own in-house Vermouth, a wide range of Sherrys and
Sangrias alongside and have a devoted Spanish gin listing served within the traditional goblet gin glasses.

With interiors created by Basque Architect, Cristina Lanz Azcarate from Atelier EURA, pure undertones of terracotta, stone and oak will whisk visitors away to sunnier climes.

The menu will function contemporary seafood dishes which sister restaurant Applebee’s Fish is well-known for, together with St
Austell Mussels cooked in a wealthy albariño and chorizo sauce; Cornish crab and fennel tostada; Iberico pork cheek empanadas and Galician picanha steak with truffle and San Simón cheese.

Desserts will showcase the traditional Burnt basque cheesecake and Torrijas, a Spanish twist
on French Toast.

La Gamba will probably be opening February 2023
