Meals historian and cookbook creator Adrian Miller defined that crimson holds essential symbolism for Juneteenth, which first befell on June 19, 1865. There are few theories on why crimson is essential as a result of the data wasn’t at all times documented, Miller instructed Insider. 

“The one I hear continuously is that crimson symbolizes the blood shed by enslaved West African ancestors,” he stated. “So, crimson pays homage and respect to these ancestors who died throughout the Atlantic slave commerce.”
