Incoming Pajaro Valley Excessive College seniors Karla Leyva and Jesus Basulto put together salads within the college’s kitchen as they supply wholesome lunches to summer season college college students on campus. Levya and Basulto are summer season interns at Watsonville Wetlands Watch and are feeding 50 college students wholesome meals every week with their “Farm to Cafeteria” local weather motion challenge. Leyva, who plans to go to medical college to develop into an endocrinologist mentioned, “I really feel so purposeful in what I’m doing right here.” Basulto, who picks up the contemporary produce for the meals at close by Esperanza Group Farm, mentioned that he “enjoys serving to folks and actually cares about folks’s well being.” He plans to develop into a firefighter.
